Klatsch-Tratsch (Germany) reviews Aeronaut

I Die, You Die (Canada) reviews Parralox - Aeronaut

Canadian Blog "I Die, You Die" (yes, named after the legendary Gary Numan track) wrote an article about the new release of Aeronaut :
Australia’s Parralox have been serving up slightly moody electro pop at an astonishing clip for six or seven years now, with a wealth of material and remixes to show for it. The title single from their fifth LP should serve as a solid enough introduction to anyone late to the party, where you’re as likely to hear motifs from recent greats like Marsheaux and the sorely missed Zeigeist as you are any 80s classics.

Poptastic Confessions (USA) review Aeronaut

Poptastic Confessions wrote a fantastic article on the new release of Aeronaut

Now on to better news! Melbourne-based electropop-act Parralox are back with a new song called "Aeronaut." And it is simply amazing. In our 2015 Music Forecast, I thought the new singer, Johanna would be on lead vocals. She isn't. Instead, John takes the lead and he does a fantastic job. Have a listen ...

Electricity (Expanded) reviewed on Cold War Night Life

Parralox's latest album "Electricity (Expanded)" has been reviewed by the lovely folk at Cold War Night Life". Here's an extract of the article :
"Going back to Parralox‘s first album, Electricity, is like rifling through a collection of the best singles of the 1980s. John von Ahlen’s celebrated lyric videos for Parralox compress the decade’s finest music into graphical quotes, hints and allusions, sometimes using nothing more than the colour palette of a Neville Brody or Designers Republic sleeve. On record, the references come fast and furious, in complex layers. Each listen reveals another tribute to Yazoo, Front 242, Propaganda, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, OMD, that John Farnham track from Hot Rod, Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Human League, New Order, Kraftwerk – a breath-taking sweep through the best-loved poptronica of the period, even if the clue is just a particular reverb on the snare or a three-note chord played on a Pro One."

Special thanks to Simon Helm.

Electricity (Expanded) is available at Bandcamp, iTunes, Beatport and Google Play.

Perez Hilton & Eye In The Sky

Perez Hilton has just done a full write up on our new song "Eye In The Sky".

"It's been almost five years since we last posted a song from Australian group Parralox.
We are so happy that they're back and sounding sweet as ever!
Their new song, Eye In The Sky, sounds like an Abba written for a TV theme filtered with 80s synths.
It's kinda magical!!!!!!!

Babysue reviews Recovery

Babysue website has reviewed Recovery, our 5th studio album.

Here's the review:
If you loved the keyboard driven techno sounds of dance bands from the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s...chances are the folks in Parralox are gonna knock your socks off. The band is the project created by Australian producer John von Ahlen. This album also includes the vocal talents of Roxy, Ryan Adames, Amii Jackson, and von Ahlen himself. Parralox is already a favorite among lots of music fans around the planet. And after spinning this album we can certainly see why. These groove-oriented tracks absolutely command movement. The songs feature solid 4/4 rhythms with perpetual beats and nice big meaty keyboard sounds. There's a lot to chomp into here...fourteen intoxicating cuts that'll have folks on dance floors around the world sweating up a storm. Our favorite tracks include "In The Night", "Headhunter", "Physical Attraction", and "A Little Respect". This package also includes a nifty art booklet that is just too cool for words.

Documentary Evidence (Unofficial Mute Records website) reviews Recovery

Documentary Evidence (the unofficial Mute Records website) reviews the latest Parralox album.
Here's an extract >>

"Recovery, the fifth album from John von Ahlen's Parralox is a collection of cover versions of tracks by Depeche Mode, Madonna, Blancmange, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys and others, all delivered with the highest possible pop nous by this Australian producer. Initially reticent about the idea of delivering an album of other people's songs, most of the tracks that form Recovery languished, unused, for two years until von Ahlen finally decided that the risk of offering alternative interpretations of some absolutely classic songs was worth it. The result is an album that entirely restores your faith in what pop music can be."
